Training and Development SP Award commencing March 15th – meet Anthony, our trainer
The OTC is now accepting applications to the Level 6 Special Purpose Award, Training and Development course, commencing on March 15th, 2019 – deadline March 1st!
Meet the trainer Anthony Moyles:
Training and education is my passion, I’ve worked in this field for over 25 years, starting initially as an operations manager for an American tech company that entailed 25% of my working time being allocated to training and coaching my team. I enjoyed this element of my role to such a degree and got so much job satisfaction that I returned to University (part-time) to study Learning and Development in greater detail and completed my BA honours in Education & Training. Driven by a spongelike passion for deeper knowledge I subsequently added a Masters in Adult Learning & Development to supplement my understanding. I didn’t realise it at the time but this would be the “solid concrete theoretical foundation” on which I’d build my second career in the Further & Higher Education sectors dedicating my efforts to Quality Assurance and training Trainers.
My life experience as a Worker, Manager, Husband, Father and Educator has thought me many useful things over my lifetime, but the most valuable and life changing lessons learned is the incredible added value of “deep theoretical knowledge” when it comes to decision making and problem solving. Everyone one of us face these uniquely individual challenges everyday of our lives, but our ability to make good choices is determined by our depth of knowledge and comprehension and nowhere is this more important than when charged with the responsibility of training, guiding or coaching others. If you think about it, even as a parent one of the most important tasks we undertake is to train, guide and support our children through their dependent/formative years into their ultimate independence. If you are someone with the responsible role of training others in carrying out their duties in the workplace, you’re obligation is to be as good a trainer as you can be, the best way to achieve this is to engage and embrace fully the challenge of learning every aspect of the Training & Development (T&D) Special Purpose Award offered by The Open Training College. This particular programme of learning offered over a 12 week period, includes 5 very practical and engaging workshops, supportive knowledgably expert tuition, theoretical foundation of knowledge second to none and the exploration of the most prominent and relevant models proven in the design, development, delivery and evaluation of excellent training.
Anthony G Moyles
This TNID and TDE course was suggested to me by my line manager. I understood that such a comprehensive course would help me in many fields, not just professionally, but also in hobbies and any other interests I may need to make presentations. I am currently attending classes in addiction studies and when qualified I will be teaching and presenting learning material regularly to groups of people.
I gained a comprehensive understanding of the theories of how adults learn and retain new material and how to, using these methods, best construct a training course based around these principles.
It was the first time I had to write academically for a subject and I had to research how to properly reference subject related articles etc. This in turn made me consider how material is viewed and understood by others
I have a new found confidence in presenting to groups of people. I learned how correctly prepare for a class or presentation and understanding these methods and best practices helped me to overcome my nerves and lack of confidence when standing before a class.
I found the workshops Very helpful! and very useful as it was necessary to present my chosen subject to a live classroom of people gaining experience and facing down my nerves at the same time.
I struggled a little with some of the concepts in the beginning but I was supported and guided through these issues by the tutor and eventually scored high in the final assessments.
I would not hesitate to recommend this course, especially to anyone seeking to upskill in the area of classroom presentation and course material preparation.
