Every photograph used by the college must have a clear role and purpose. They are not space fillers or there simply to look ‘nice’. They should encapsulate and illustrate by example our philosophy, ethos and relationship with our students, colleagues and community.
We strive to use photos of real people. We do not use models and you should not use stock photography where possible. The quality of the image comes from the feeling, experience or reality that it captures and not necessarily the technical or artistic quality (though these are good things and should be strived for!).
The quality of a photograph is determined by a number of factors including:
- The genre or type of photography (e.g. classroom, social, portrait, service setting etc.)
- The Environment (e.g. outdoor, in-service, classroom)
- The lighting (e.g. natural, artificial, harsh, high key, backlit, flare)
- The people being photographed
- Dress (formal, informal, etc.)
- The composition and framing of the image
- The colour palette used
