Launch of CDNT Online Resources for Children and Families..
The Open Training College (OTC) is delighted to announce the recent launch of an innovative project to provide online resources for children and families availing of disability services in the Integrated Health Area Dublin North County and Integrated Health Area Dublin North City and West.
This initiative has been developed in collaboration with four key agencies:
- Health Service Executive (HSE)
- Central Remedial Clinic (CRC)
- AVISTA and
- St. Michael’s House.
What makes the project unique is that the resources have been evaluated by clinicians to ensure they reflect best practice. The content has been carefully prioritised based on input from families through their collaborative planning with clinicians. In a sense, the online resource is a one-stop shop for families to gain useful information.
Raymond Watson, Assistant College Director, explains: Currently, the resources are exclusively available to families in the specified areas. Over 100 resources are accessible on the St. Michael’s House/OTC platform, YourOTC. These include support packs on practical topics such as dressing, bathing, and communication, as well as instructional videos featuring Lámh (a manual signing system) and visual aids designed to support children and teenagers.
This groundbreaking project has been funded by the HSE and aims to provide valuable, practical, and evidence-based support to families.
The OTC has a long history of working with organisations, both nationally and internationally, in providing bespoke training initiatives. Please contact the College if you or your organisation wish to create similar online repositories or online training options for your teams.
