5* Testimonials - Foundation Programme for Working in Residential Services
Adult learning provides so many benefits, opportunities and options to staff wanting to learn something new or refresh what they may have heard before. Staff skills need to constantly grow and evolve. The opportunity that this programme presented excited many of us here in Clann Mór Residential & Respite CLG.
Most of us spent much of our childhood in education, and couldn’t wait to get out. However, I believe in the importance of learning in adulthood and the benefits it presents both personally and professionally. The manner in which this course is constructed made it very accessible to all.
Staff sometimes think the idea of going back to studying is daunting, and with excuses of “I’m too old” or “I work full time” are really no longer valid.
Thanks to developments in technology, OTC distance learning is a quick, easy and most efficient way to distribute learning materials and get "stuck in". This course offered the staff the flexibility to learn at their own pace, in their own time, wherever they wished. Distance Learning also allows students to fit it around working full-time or part-time, child care, etc. and in this instance it helped keep people focused throughout the difficult early days of Covid-19.

Other Staff Testimonials
"I found the content of the course was very relevant for the work we carry out daily as support staff. It helped me to understand the basis of the HIQA inspections, why we carry out the paperwork we do, the relevance of each document and the importance of completing it professionally and factually. It definitely tied up a lot of loose ends. Some modules had a lot of unfamiliar content to me and as such it took me a bit longer to complete. There is a fair bit of reference to national and international law/Acts connected to the sector, which provides the background to how and why we support those with an I.D. as we do, and it takes time to read through but very worthwhile. It was definitely worthwhile doing - I just have to go read all the Clann Mór policies and procedures again now - one a day I think for the next few weeks!!
